Procedures are there to be used

I spent the morning with one of my best clients today. Two years ago we set up a system in her office to deal with the rental of some equipment. The rental is seasonal and my client isn’t procedural driven. I was therefore a little shocked when she said that we need to create a new system. I had to remind myself that’s why she employs me. To make sure that I do the thinking and recording of procedures so she can run her business.

I also had a 1-2-1 today with a BNI member and we decided to go for a meal instead of a drink. On the next table were three men talking about redundancy in their business. The BNI member is a HR specialist. She wouldn’t get up and give them her card so I had to do it for her. I have never done that before and it will be interesting to see if they call her.
